Moroccan-Italian days on environment protection in Agadir
Morocco-Italy, Environment, 3/16/1999
Morocco and Italy are holding in the Moroccan southern city of Agadir partnership days on environment protection.
The event launched on Monday is meant to highlight new technologies for water purification, the treatment of ports water and the collection and treatment of urban solid waste.
Participants in the days, including some fifteen Italian enterprises specialized in environment protection technologies, have pleaded for including environment protection in all economic and social development strategies.
The safeguard of environment must be among the top concerns of economic and industrial operators and its management requires a more enhanced international cooperation given the universal character of environment-related problems, participants argued.
Last week, Casablanca hosted a fair on environment protection that was co-sponsored by Morocco and Germany.
On the fringes of the fair, the two countries signed an agreement on environment protection, providing for cooperation in matters of waste treatment, environment protection, and assessment of air pollution in large cities.
