Jordanian government's program gives priority to restoring ties with all Arabs
Jordan, Politics, 3/16/1999
Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh has asserted that the main traits of his government's program he intends to submit to the Jordanian parliament at the beginning of next month is to restore Jordan's relations with all Arab states to what they had been previously.
In a statement to the United Arab Emirates daily al-Bayan issued on Monday in Dubai, al-Rawabdeh stressed that the government's program treats the water issue, which constitutes one of the crucial matters in Jordan, and the financial crisis as part of a general crisis the region as a whole undergoes.
He explained that eliminating this bottleneck can be made through attracting foreign investments. He stressed the need for new work opportunities to contain unemployment in the country. He denied that his government intends to reduce the number of working staff in the state-run establishments, especially under the current crisis. He ruled out closing the Jordanian market before the Arab labor force, stressing the importance of openness toward all Arab states.
