Columbian president in Morocco this week
Morocco-Colombia, Politics, 3/15/1999

Columbian President Andres Pastrana is expected in Morocco next Wednesday on a one-day working visit to give a new momentum to cooperation between the two countries in various sectors.

Morocco and Columbia are determined to bolster their trade exchange, cultural relations and economic partnership, Columbia's ambassador to Morocco told reporters in Rabat on Monday at a meeting with local and foreign press.

Last January, Speaker of Columbia's House of Representatives visited Morocco and met with several Moroccan officials. Talks focused on cooperation prospects between the two countries' legislative bodies, Columbia's peace efforts, the Sahara issue, investments, coordination between the two countries in international fora and topical issues of common concern.

The visit was marked by the creation of a Moroccan-Columbian parliamentary friendship group to foster contacts and dialogue between the two countries' legislative bodies in economic, cultural and political fields.
