Report: Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine to hold a rally in Damascus
Palestine-Syria, Politics, 3/15/1999

The Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am quoted sources of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine that Syria had permitted the front to organize a rally on Friday at al-Yarmouk camp in Damascus.

In its Sunday issue that paper said that invitations circulated to the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps to attend the rally.

The paper indicated that the rally will be boycotted by groups of the Palestinian salvation front, including the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

The paper, on the other hand, ruled out any provocative acts from any Palestinian faction against the other.

The paper quoted the sources as saying that the DFLP had no Syrian reaction towards the "handshake" made between the front's secretary general, Nayef Hawatemah, and Israeli President Ezer Weizman.
