A cultural festival for Hamas in Bethlehem
Palestine, Politics, 3/13/1999
The Palestinian Hamas movement held yesterday in Bethlehem city in the West Bank a festival on the first anniversary of the assassination of the leader of its military body, Mohie El-Din El-Sherif.
Nearly 700 persons participated in the festival, in which photos of the spiritual guide of the movement, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, and leaders of the movement who are detained in Palestinian prisons were raised.
Ahmed Tawish, one of the movement's leaders, delivered an address in which he assured the continuation of the Islamic resistance in Palestine and its struggle against Israeli occupation as the Lebanese Islamic resistance does.
He also urged the Palestinian Authority to stop chasing the Islamic resistance and to free the political detainees in its prisons.
