Arab experts meet to promote children's rights
Regional, Culture, 3/13/1999

A hundred Arab experts started on Friday a meeting here to ponder means to promote Arab children's rights and spread human rights culture in the Arab states.

The delegates, representing 11 governments and non-governmental organizations from most of Arab states, are meeting for three days at the initiative of the Tunis-based Arab Human Rights Institute in collaboration with UNESCO.

The conference is assessing the implementation of the international convention on children's rights in the Arab states, 10 years after its entry into force.

The working out of an action plan for the promotion of the international convention on children's rights in the concerned countries and the consolidation of monitoring mechanisms are the major items of the Tunis meeting agenda.
