US lawmaker calls for humanitarian aid to south Sudan, criticizes Sudanese government

US Senator Sam Brownback said yesterday that he will introduce next week to the US legislature a resolution authorizing direct aid to areas of southern Sudan. Addressing a National Press Club press briefing he criticized the Sudanese government for allowing slavery to exist and for what he said is the government-created famine in the south through banning aid flights.
