2 million pounds for Arab cinema festival in Cairo

The Egyptian Ministry of Culture has agreed to subsidize the first Cairo Arabic cinema festival with 2 million pounds, where the festival's program includes offering monetary prizes for the best films.

The festival is to be held in July with the participation of nine states: Algeria, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunis, Sudan, Syria and Egypt.

The festival includes one contest for long narrative films, another for short films, a third for long documentary films and a fourth for short documentary films.

Additionally, there will be sections for video films and the works of cinematic institute students in Arab states, in addition to Arab cinematic professionals residing outside the Arab states, who are also allowed to take part in this festival.
