Europe may stop importing Egyptian fish
Egypt-European Union, Economics, 3/12/1999

The commissariat of the European Union in Cairo said the EU will stop importing fish from Egypt if Egypt does not implement the conditions required by European Union countries regarding packing and covering fish.

This comes as a new step in the commercial war between Egypt and countries of the European Union.

The latest problems come after an ease in the crises over potato and textile trade and in spite of the relative progress in negotiations for Egyptian - European partnership.

A press statement released by the European commission stated that exporters of Egyptian fish were given a chance at the end of current month to implement the required conditions for export of their products to Europe.
