Yemeni President to visit India and Japan
Yemen-India, Economics, 3/12/1999
Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh today starts a two-day visit to India to be followed by a similar visit to Japan.
The Gulf News Agency said that a high-ranking official delegation including several Yemeni ministers, businessmen, traders and investors will accompany the Yemeni president to acquaint officials in both India and Japan with investment opportunities available in Yemen and to become familiar with fields enabling the two sides to maintain economic, trade and technical cooperation.
Yemeni official sources said that Saleh's visit to India aims at discussing bilateral relations and possible purchases by India of Yemeni natural gas in the framework of a project conducted by the Total company, especially as India established a station for the generation of energy using gas.
The sources added that the visit of the Yemeni president to Tokyo aims at discussing aid presented by Japan to Yemen since 1976 and future additions.
