Cetin discusses in Israel means of strengthening security and military relations
Israel-Turkey, Politics, 3/11/1999
Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Hekmet Cetin has asserted his country's continued consolidation of its relations with Israel in all areas, especially in fostering the military and security cooperation agreement between the two sides.
In a statement to Israel Radio on Wednesday, Cetin said following his talks with the chairman of the Israeli Knesset, Dan Tichon, that his country supports the Middle East peace process.
On the impact of the question of PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan on relations between Turkey and Israel, Cetin indicated identical positions between the two sides towards the PKK and ruled out that any Israeli government or people will maintain relations with the PKK.
On Wednesday Cetin started an official visit to Israel at the head of a Turkish parliamentary delegation to Israel comprising representatives of major Turkish parties.
For his part, Tichon stressed Israel's adherence to military agreements with Turkey. He described relations between the two sides as developing rapidly.
