Syrian president takes oath today

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad today will take the oath before the People's Assembly on the occasion of the beginning of his fifth constitutional term. According to Article 85 of the Syrian constitution, the constitutional term is seven years to start as of the termination of the President's current term.
