Libya lodges complaint against Israel

Libya has lodged a complaint to the UN Security Council over two Israeli helicopters flying near a Libyan ship in international territorial waters off the coast of Beirut on January 2, a matter which is considered a violation of
international law by the Israeli side.
Libya's representative to the UN, Abu Zeid Dourdah, said that the action by Israel is considered a violation of international law concerning the freedom of navigation in the region.
In a message to the UN, the Libyan representative called on the UN to carry out its role in preserving world peace and security and in putting an end to such Israeli actions, adding that his country preserves its right to defend its interests and sovereignty according to international treaties and the UN charter.
