Kuwaiti ideas to settle the question of the three Gulf islands
Kuwait-Regional, Politics, 3/8/1999
Kuwaiti Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah spoke about Kuwaiti efforts for mediation between Iran and the United Arab Emirates over the three disputed Gulf islands, especially following the maneuvers recently carried out by Tehran.
In statements to reporters on Sunday in Kuwait Sheikh al-Sabah denied disputes with France over its ideas to eliminate the Iraqi crisis. Al-Sabah added that he understood from French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine who visited Kuwait that these French ideas are linked to implementing UN resolutions.
On using the good relations linking Kuwait with Iran to ease relations between Iran and the UAE, Sheikh al-Sabah said that the Kuwaiti efforts concentrate on bringing the two sides together in a meeting in order to reach a satisfactory solution for all.
"If such a solution will not be attained," al- Sabah said, "There will be the International Court of Justice where every side should submit its documents concerning the three islands."
