OIC chief calls for dialogue to settle Iraq crisis

Secretary general of the Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Azeddine Laraki, called for dialogue between Iraq and the United Nations to get out of the present deadlock.
In an interview with Kuwaiti daily Assiyassa, the OIC chief stressed that only a positive dialogue with the UN would settle the crisis, safeguard Iraq's sovereignty and guarantee Iraq's compliance with al security council resolutions.
He added that pan-Islamic organization opposes US and British raids against Iraq, stating "all involved parties should behave in the frame of international legality."
Laraki, a former prime minister of Morocco, had recently called for a new mechanism to control Iraq's arms arsenal.
