Lebanon denies contacts with Israel through the US and France
Lebanon, Politics, 3/5/1999
Lebanese governmental sources have categorically denied news reported by Israeli Army radio on Thursday morning that contacts are being carried out between Israel and Lebanon through the US and France concerning the south Lebanon town of Arnoun.
These Lebanese sources asserted that there are no such contacts with Israel in this respect or concerning other matters that Israel tries to promote.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss met with the Lebanese delegation to the April Understanding Monitoring Committee, led by Maj. Gen. Maher al-Tufeili, who handed him a report on the work of the committee.
The Lebanese premier asserted Lebanon's commitment to provisions of the April Understanding in content and spirit, but he asserted it will be absolutely rejected by Lebanon to make any sort of amendment to this "understanding."
