Sudan calls for removing mines

The Sudanese government urged the United Nations to support it in removing land mines in southern and eastern parts of the country, where battles between governmental forces and rebels are taking place.
Sudanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Abi Abd El-Rahman El-Nemairi said during a press conference he held at the start of implementing a treaty banning anti-personnel mines in Khartoum that Sudan does its best in order to get rid of the mines.
Abd El-Rahman El-Nemairi urged the United Nations to support Sudan's efforts in this field.
