Cairo denies Egyptians were exposed to torture or killing
Egypt-Iraq, Politics, 3/3/1999

Cairo denied yesterday that there are any traces of torture on the corpses of Egyptians returning from Iraq, and confirmed that there is no evidence proving that the Iraqi government used torture or killed several thousand Egyptian workers there after the nine-year war between Iraq and Iran ended.

Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister Assem Megahed confirmed to ArabicNews.com that they did not receive any complaints or notes from the families of the dead indicating that their deaths were deliberate, adding that there is no information on Egyptian captives still in Iraq after first and second gulf wars, pointing out that there are no complaints in this concern.
