Kuwaiti FM says the government cannot investigate the crown prince
Kuwait, Politics, 3/3/1999

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah refused to investigate Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Saad al-Abdullah al-Sabah concerning charges he has leveled at a Nations Council deputy of communicating with a foreign ambassador to make use of a weapons deal.

Sabah al-Ahmed said that no one constitutionally or legally could investigate the crown prince.

The crown prince also announced that he would not attend a parliamentary investigation committee that was formed to investigate the accusations, and he stated: "I don't know with whom the committee is going to investigate. Who will be able to investigate the crown prince?"

He also asked the government to abolish the investigation committee and overlook the accusations.

Meanwhile the Minister of State for Nations Council Affairs Mohammed Dief Allah Sherar, who attended the government's parliamentary meeting, referred to a formula that could close the issue.
