Two aides from Ocalan given asylum in Greece
Regional, Politics, 2/27/1999
Greece on Friday gave political asylum and protection to two female aides of Kurdistani Workers Party leader Abdullah Ocalan, who was arrested by Turkey from the Greek embassy in Nairobi.
A spokesman for the Greek government said that political asylum was given to two out of three of Ocalan's aides, who were brought to Athens on Thursday from the Greek diplomatic mission in Nairobi, where they had stayed since the arrest of Ocalan last week. The spokesman expected the third aide, who carried a Belgian passport, to leave Greece within days.
