Morocco and Egypt prepare for high cooperation commission meeting

Morocco and Egypt are working to identify priority partnership projects to be endorsed by the high cooperation commission that will convene in Morocco next spring under the chairmanship of King Hassan II and President Hosni Mubarak.

In this regard, the Moroccan-Egyptian information commission started Thursday in Cairo a meeting to look into ways of enhancing cooperation between the two countries' radios, televisions and news agencies.

The exchange of experience in movies as well as coordination between Moroccan and Egyptian communication departments and the possibility of holding joint training sessions for reporters and audiovisual technicians will also be tackled by the commission during its two-day encounter.

In Cairo, the agriculture commission agreed last week on a number of projects destined to foster partnership between the two Arab countries in matters of farming, plants and livestock protection and veterinary research.

The Moroccan and Egyptian businessmen, who met early this month in Rabat, have elaborated several projects meant to spur trade and economic exchange between the two countries.

They called for visa suppression, the consolidation of maritime-air links and coordination between Moroccan and Egyptian bourses and banks.

Through these measures, the Moroccan and Egyptian entrepreneurs said, the volume of trade exchanges between two countries can reach $200 million by year 2000 against the current $30 million.
