Morocco and Brazil agree to hold permanent political dialogue
Morocco-Brazil, Politics, 2/26/1999
Morocco and Brazil have signed a memorandum of understanding providing for setting up mechanisms for regular and permanent political consultation between the two countries.
The document was signed by Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Abdellatif Filali -- who is currently on an official visit to Brazil, second leg of a Latin American tour that includes Argentina and Paraguay -- and Brazilian Foreign Minister Luiz Felipe Lampreia.
The memorandum of understanding also provides for setting up mechanisms to explore means of upgrading bilateral relations in political, economic, commercial, cultural, scientific and technological sectors.
Filali, who conferred with the Brazilian Vice President Marco Maciel and with the speakers of Brazil's two parliamentary chambers, dedicated an exhibition on Arab-Islamic heritage in Portugal and the Portuguese heritage in Morocco.
The exhibition, held in the Portuguese embassy in Brasilia, displays handicraft items, and photos of Moroccan imperial cities and cultural and historical sites. The exhibition will close its doors on March 18.
Filali, who already visited Argentina, will also pay an official visit to Paraguay, the last leg of the Latin American tour.
