Battles continue in Padmi between Ethiopia and Eritrea

Battles continued on Thursday between the Ethiopian Army and Eritrean forces on the western front of Padmi.
AFP quoted the spokeswoman for the Ethiopian government, Saloumi Tadisi, as saying that fighting continued for the third straight day in the Padmi district, 375 km, West of Mekli, the federal capital of al-Tagheiri province in northern Ethiopia.
In Asmara, Eritrean officials stressed that fighting continues in Padmi. Each of the two sides claimed success in confrontations with the other's forces. So far no information was reported on the inflicted losses.
Padmi was the location at which the border conflict started in May 1998 between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
