Report: Trial in absentia for Libyan accused of bombing UTA plane
Libya-France, Politics, 2/26/1999
The London based al-Hayat daily quoted well-informed judicial sources in Paris that the in-absentia trial for the four Libyans accused of bombing a French UTA plane will start on March 8 and last for less than one week.
Libya had cooperated with French investigating Judge Jan Loi Brogierre, who visited Libya. The judge, following this visit, closed the file and submitted it to the court.
Earlier, Libyan President Moammar Gaddafi sent a message to his French counterpart, Jacques Chirac, in which he promised to maintain full cooperation with French law.
