Canada's general governor starts three-day state visit to Morocco

Canada's general governor, Romeo Leblanc, arrived on Wednesday to Morocco on a three-day visit to Morocco.

The Canadian official who is accompanied by a delegation of representatives, businessmen, delegates of non-governmental organizations and intellectuals told the media "Morocco is a country with which Canada wished to establish steady relations in sectors where it was traditionally absent."

In an interview with MAP office in Montreal, the representative of the British crown in Canada hailed the Moroccan civilization which attracts Canadian tourists who are not only seduced by the sun and the sand but also by a very ancient civilization.

He added that Morocco is going through a very interesting political experience and that he is anxious to learn more about Morocco during his talks with King Hassan II and prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi.

Citing examples of partnership opportunities between the two countries, Leblanc, who said he loves Moroccan tangerines sold in Ottawa, added that his country which is a specialist in long-distance electricity transmission can help Morocco in this field, especially to connect remote areas to the electricity grid.

This is the first visit, ever paid to Morocco by a general governor of Canada.
