Morocco to build 1,500 km of highways by year 2010

Morocco, which is building annually 100 Km of highways, will have by year 2010 a 1500 km long motoryway network, Moroccan Equipment Minister said Wednesday. In an interview with "L'opinion" daily, Mouameur Taghaoune said his department will invest annually around $ 375 Million to reach that goal.
After he underlined that the private sector can play a key-role in sustaining Morocco's roads projects, the official said his department has worked out an ambitious program to open up remote rural areas and meet the investors' increasing demands for modern infrastructures.
"To upgrade and develop the economic potentials of Morocco's northern provinces, we will build up to 555 km of bypass roads on the Mediterranean sea front" the minister said.
