Khartoum confirms progress in issue of Egyptian possessions
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 2/25/1999
High-profile official sources said that both Sudan and Egypt reached in the national ruling conference held in Sudan a primary agreement for treating disputes concerning the issue of Egyptian possessions in Sudan that were confiscated by Khartoum during the crisis in the two countries' relations.
The sources said the agreement came due to communications that lasted for more than two months between the two sides, confirming that the current efforts aim at drafting the points of the final agreement.
The sources said the meetings have resulted in establishing the necessary arrangements, but they pointed out that it is good to clarify the details of the agreements now.
The Egyptian possessions include the Khartoum branch of Cairo University and facilities affiliated to the minister of irrigation.
