Cairo meeting of AL FMs to be held on March 17-18
Regional, Politics, 2/25/1999
The Arab League said the council of Arab foreign ministers will hold a two-day meeting for its 111th session on March 17 and 18. A well-informed source at the AL's General Secretariat said on Wednesday that the new date for the session was fixed as a result of consultations with Syria, the current chairman of the AL council.
The dates of March 20 and 21, which were fixed earlier, coincided with the meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Unity foreign ministers.
AL sources said the forthcoming session will discuss the stalled Middle East peace process, the causes of Palestine and south Lebanon, Palestinian refugees and Jerusalem, Lebanese prisoners detained in Israeli jails and other Arab issues, including means of making the Middle East a nuclear-free zone.
