Khatami confers with Kuwaiti information minister

Iranian President Muhammad Khatami on Tuesday night in Tehran received Kuwaiti Information Minister Youssef al-Sammit, currently visiting Iran.
Talks dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries and means of developing and strengthening them in various fields, as well as developments of conditions in the region and other regional and international issues of mutual concern.
President Khatami underlined the importance of preserving the security of the Gulf region away from foreign intervention as well as to ensure the atmosphere in which no single country thinks of attacking other neighboring states.
He indicated the oil price recession, noting that this is "a hard blow to the national capital of OPEC member states."
For his part, the Kuwaiti information minister noted the forthcoming visit of the Kuwaiti crown prince to Iran with the objective of strengthening bilateral relations. He expressed his hope for developing bilateral relations, especially in the cultural field between the two countries.
