Iraq demands the cancellation of no-fly zones
Iraq, Politics, 2/25/1999

Iraqi dailies issued on Wednesday reiterated their call upon the Arab League, and the UN Security Council to interfere in order to abrogate the two no-fly zones in the northern and southern parts of Iraq and stressed that Iraq will continue confrontation of the US and British planes.

The Iraqi daily al-Joumhureyah said that moral duty and legal responsibility necessitate that the Arab League has to take a clear stand toward this flagrant daily aggression against the Iraqi people, a stand stemming from the AL charter and the joint Arab defense treaty.

Al-Joumhureyah added that the UN, and in particular the UN Security Council, are in a new test for credibility and its neutral role in protecting peace and security in the region to reject the US and British aggression in imposing no-fly zones in the northern and southern parts of Iraq by two separate resolutions.
