Gaddafi seeks to reconcile with the US
Libya, Politics, 2/24/1999
Leader of the Libyan revolution Col. Moammar Gaddafi has asserted his desire to maintain reconciliation with the US concerning the question of Lockerbie.
In an interview to be published by Foreign Affairs magazine in its March and April issue, Gaddafi said, "We want to reconcile with the US, but it does not want to reconcile with us."
He added, "I want personally to learn the reality concerning the Lockerbie question."
Gaddafi added, "I am not worried whether the two Libyans will be convicted or not," noting that the embargo imposed by the UN on Iraq had so far resulted in deaths among Libyans equalling twice the number of Lockerbie victims.
Gaddafi criticized the Western mass media which he said accuses Libya of being a terrorist state. He added these accusations are not logical or reasonable at this time. "All these have become part of the past," he said.
