One Algerian gunman killed in Algeria

Algerian security forces on Monday killed one member of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA) in Awlad al-Mahdi suburb, east of al-Akhdareyah municipality.

The Algerian daily al-Youm said on Tuesday that an armed group killed one Lebanese citizen in al-Zeitouneh area, of al-Qall district. The paper said the citizen was working within the self-defense teams.

Meanwhile, the criminal court in Telmesan province sentenced two men to seven-year prison sentences on charges of being members of the GIA.

Three persons were killed due to the explosion of a bomb in a restaurant in Khemis-Miliana, southwest of the Algerian capital. About 14 persons were killed in an explosion in the same town during December 1998.
