Lebanon complains to Understanding Committee
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 2/24/1999
Lebanese parties and national forces have condemned the annexation of the town of Arnoun to the occupied strip of south Lebanon by the Israeli occupation forces.
In a statement, the Lebanese parties indicated on Tuesday following a meeting that the Lebanese resistance was and is still the only choice to deter the occupation troops. They insisted that Lebanese resistance operations had proved that the occupation will be eliminated.
The parties also discussed several local and regional issues.
Meanwhile, the April Understanding Monitoring committee on Tuesday met at the headquarters of UNIFIL in the Lebanese border town of Naqoura. The committee sources said that Israel refused to discuss the issue of its annexation of the town of Arnoun to the occupied part of south Lebanon, on the consideration that the committee is not authorized to talk about the question of territories.
The sources added that the Lebanese delegation has adhered to its complaint, which is backed by the French delegation.
Meanwhile, Lebanese security forces said on Tuesday Israeli warplanes carried out three air raids against al-Jabbour, al-Hajir valley and Toumat Neiha. The sources indicated that the Israeli artillery bombarded al-Salawqi valley, Yahmour, the heights of al-Daher and al-Rafee mountains, al-Tasse spring area, Ein al-Tineh, Jabal Abu Rashed and al Sareira.
