Iraqi civilians killed or wounded in US air strikes
Iraq, Politics, 2/23/1999

One Iraqi citizen was killed and others were wounded in raids launched by US warplanes on areas in the northern and southern parts of Iraq on Monday.

AFP quoted an Iraqi military spokesman as saying that formations of F-14, F-16 and F-18 warplanes backed by reconnaissance violated Iraqi airspace in northern and southern Iraq and were intercepted by the Iraqi air defense weapons.

The spokesman added that the planes bombarded several civil firms in the southern region and the raid resulted in the death of one civilian and injuries to others.

In an earlier statement, the US military leadership positioned in Europe said in a statement that formations of US F-15 planes dropped laser-guided bombs against Iraqi targets in the no-fly zone in Iraq.
