President Yasser Arafat in Morocco on Tuesday
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 2/22/1999

President of Palestine Yasser Arafat, who is currently in Germany, is expected in Morocco on Tuesday for a visit during which he would brief King Hassan II about the latest developments of the Palestinian issue and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process prospects, the Palestinian government spokesman, Nabil Abu Radina, told reporters in Rabat.

MAP reported that Arafat would also attend an international meeting on the "future of Arab Jerusalem" to be held in Casablanca this February 23-25 under the aegis of King Hassan II, chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.

Relatedly, Arab League secretary general, Esmat Abdel Meguid, who will take part in the meeting, told MAP bureau in Cairo before flying to Morocco Sunday that he would confer with several Moroccan officials, including Prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, and Foreign affairs and cooperation minister Abdellatif Filali.

The league chief paid tribute to the efforts made by Morocco to reactivate joint Arab action and to King Hassan II for his tireless endeavors to ensure and safeguard Palestinians' rights over the holy city of Al-Quds.

Arab league sources said the league will submit to the Casablanca colloquy a special dossier on the situation in Al-Quds, the Israeli Judaization schemes, and the stand to be adopted to face up the Israeli violations in the holy city.
