Denmark symposium attended by Israelis and Iranians
Iran-Israel, Politics, 2/22/1999
A symposium was held at the Danish university of Odessa on the Middle East, attended by four professors from Tehran University and an Israeli professor, David Menashereh.
Israel Radio said this is the first time in 20 years in which Israeli and Iranian lecturers attended a joint symposium.
Israel was represented at the symposium by the secretary of the Israeli consulate in Denmark, Aziz Bin Noun, whereas the Iranian embassy refused to delegate a representative.
Sources at Odessa University said that the Iranian authorities had known beforehand about the Israeli participation in the symposium and that its agreement to send representatives might be an evidence of its readiness to open a dialogue.
