Sudan, Politics, 2/22/1999
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has announced that the Sudanese government will exert all efforts and ensure all means in order to achieve national unity in the country and achieve security and peace.
Sudanese dailies issued on Sunday quoted the Sudanese president as saying in an interview with the Qatar's "al-Jazira" satellite television station on Saturday as saying that the Khartoum peace agreements are better than preceding ones.
He in this respect indicated that the "cessation" option is still better than that of unity with the war going on in southern Sudan.
Al-Bashir explained the separating southern Sudan peacefully is better than forcing unity with the war going on.
