Two Italian non-governmental organizations agreed to assist Morocco in developing handicrafts in its northern region of Chefchaouen. Several students were wounded and scores were arrested by the police during riots at Fez University, the Moroccan press reported. The students were trying to stage a sit-in at the university, when the police intervened to disperse the crowd, Map reported. Go

Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, winner of the 1997 Noble Prize for physics, will give several lectures in Morocco. Cohen-Tannoudji teaches at the College de France and is director of a French atomic physics laboratory.
