Al-Sahaf explains Iraq's stand towards recent Arab FM s conference

Iraqi Foreign Minister said in Damascus today Saturday following his meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa said "I have explained Iraq's position concerning the recent meeting held in Cairo by the Arab foreign minister's consultation meeting. We concentrated on the need to concentrate on the meeting points linking the Arabs regardless to the Cairo's meeting."

Replying to a question on obstacles hindering the convening of the Arab follow-up committee that emerged from the Cairo's conference and why it did not meet, al-Sahaf said "The follow up committee is under dispute. It would be better if things are taken thoughtfully. It would be much better if we proceed on consultations on this issue in order not to commit mistakes which will be harmful for all, especially to Iraq."

Al-Sahaf was asked if he will be meeting with President Hafez al-Assad today night, he said "I am the envoy from President Saddam Hussein to President Hafez al-Assad. In the God will, such a meeting will happen."
