Regional-Morocco, Culture, 2/20/1999
The "pioneer experience" Morocco gained in human rights fields will be beneficial to all Arab countries, the secretary-general of the Arab Human Rights Organization (AHRO) said.
The Arab world is still suffering from several human rights-related problems due to the lack of democracy, Mohamed Faek (Egypt) told MAP.
Faek is attending in Rabat an international conference on education and human rights in the Arab world.
The AHRO chief also cited civil wars and foreign aggressions (in Lebanon, Iraq and the Palestinian territories) as other reasons for the human rights problems facing the Arab world.
He added that Arab human rights association are faced with obstacles, including ignorance and high illiteracy rates.
AHRO is a non-governmental organization seeking the promotion of human rights in Arab states through awareness campaigns, training and education.
