Morocco produces 60 million pairs of shoes annually

Morocco counts 145 shoe factories employing 9,000 persons and producing annually 60 million pairs of shoes.
The shoe-making sector, which plays an important role in Morocco's leather industry, earned the country in 1997 around $86 million and $43 million in added value.
In a bid to boost their performance and competitiveness, the Moroccan shoe factories invested about $7.29 million in the modernization of their working structures and machinery.
France is Morocco's largest shoe importer, followed by Spain and Italy.
