Intensive security measures on Turkish interests in Cairo
Egypt-Turkey, Politics, 2/19/1999
Egyptian security forces started Thursday intensive security measures on Turkish interests in Cairo, to head off any possible violent actions by the Kurds who reside in Egypt or extremist Islamic groups, in protest against the arrest of Kurdistani Workers Party leader Abdullah Ocalan, who was captured in Nairobi.
Kenya closed its embassies in Cairo and released a press statement yesterday saying the works of the embassy will be suspended until an indefinite date, while the embassy of Tanzania will present the usual consular services.
