Tunisia-Gulf, Politics, 2/18/1999

Tunisian Minister of Defense Habib bin Yehia began yesterday visits to Qatar and Kuwait, carrying communiques to their rulers from Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin bin Ali concerning the recent developments between Iraq and the United Nations.

Moreover, Tunisian diplomatic sources said the visits of bin Yehia to Doha and Kuwait City comes as a part of continuous consultations, enhancing ties and cooperation with the Qatar and Kuwait.

Bin Yehia played a main role during his tenure as foreign minister in normalization of Gulf - Tunisian relations at the beginning of the 1990s and in saving the region from alienation brought about by the Gulf War.
