Yemen praises good relations with Saudi Arabia
Yemen-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 2/18/1999
Yemeni Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Abdul Qader Bajmal has described Yemeni-Saudi relations as good and developing on all levels.
He expressed his hope that these relations will be developed for the welfare of the two neighborly countries and brotherly people.
In a pre-departure statement to the Saudi News Agency before he left Riyadh on Tuesday night, he had conveyed a message of congratulations to Saudi Arabia's King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz on the one hundredth anniversary of Saudi Arabia's foundation.
Bajmal added that his visit to Saudi Arabia came in the context of continued consultations and discussions between the two countries in order to reach a common vision of issues pertaining to border demarcation and developments in the Arab region.
On the other hand, the Yemeni FM denied news quoted by certain media that he made statements to the German daily Deir Shpegiel in which he said that Yemen holds responsible certain of its neighbors for the kidnapping operations of tourists in Yemen.
Bajmal added, "I have denied this news in my statements to all press and I do not know how such a statement was made."
He explained that he had held a press conference with the German foreign minister in Sanaa and that "some people wanted to search for certain sentences in order to come out with a certain statement," in asserting that his statements were misused.
