Kuwait refuses Iraqi threats
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 2/16/1999

Kuwait strongly rejected the Iraqi threats to attack it, considering these threats very serious and as destabilizing to the region.

Iraq accused Kuwait and Saudi Arabia of allowing the U.S. and British governments to use bases in the two Arab states in monitoring the no-fly zone in southern Iraq. Iraq said that it has the capability to strike at those bases.

Meanwhile, Kuwait considered these statements as a direct and grave threat and an insult its sovereignty.

Moreover, a Kuwaiti official expressed the absolute refusal of Kuwait and its strong denounciation to what was said in the Iraqi statement, saying it was invalid allegations and accusations.
