Report: Future of relations with Jordan is Clinton's top priority
Jordan-Regional-USA, Politics, 2/16/1999

The London-based al-Majalla magazine quoted an official at the US State Department as saying that the future of US-Jordanian relations will be on top of the US foreign relations agenda during the coming two years of President Clinton's presidency and that Clinton had determined that the year 2000 will be the constituent year for establishing an Israeli - Palestinian -Jordanian system.

The magazine added in its recent issue that Clinton's "Humanitarian scenario towards the Israeli, Jordanian and Palestinian triangle" is based on the following: asserting the strong US-Jordanian relations by fostering ties with the new King Abdullah, ensuring US and international aid to Jordan, and drawing up a plan by which Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Authority abide themselves in order to ensure stability in the near future and to establish a Palestinian-Jordanian state (confederation, ally to Israel).
