Jordanian parties call for political factions' solidarity

Secretaries of political parties in Jordan have called for starting a new phase in the life of Jordan on the grounds of solidarity between all political factions.

In statements to the Jordanian daily al-Dostour issued on Sunday, the secretaries of several Jordanian parties called for opening the door to national dialogue together with giving priority to the economic situation, public freedoms and Jordanian-Arab relations.

Within this context, the assistant secretary general of the Progressive Arab Party in Jordan, Fuad Dabbour, said that it is "needed in this phase to give more freedom for parties' activities, to lift restrictions from party activities, to consider parties as national institutions and not to consider these parties as competitors to the government."

Dabbour explained that the current phase requires drawing a national economic program, and limiting unemployment. He also called for canceling the printing and publication law.

The Secretary general of the constitutional Arab Jordanian Party, Mulhim al-Tel, called for uniting the national ranks and meeting the hopes of the people in a government that can heal the sufferings of people.

The Secretary general of the Jordanian Communist Party, Munir Hamarenah, asserted the need for good Jordanian relations with the outer world as well as to formulate stable and principled Jordanian- Arab relations. He indicated that Jordan has good Arab and international relations that it can invest to force Israel to abide by international legitimacy requirements.
