Syrian minister of the interior announces referendum results

Syrian Minister of the Interior Mohammad Harba on Thursday handed the speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly, Abdul Qader Qaddoura, a message providing the final result of the people's referendum held on Wednesday for President al-Assad's election to a new constitutional term.
Harba's message said the number of Syrian citizens who have the right to vote is 9,101,155. Some 8,961,144 of them exercised their right. The Syrian Minister added that 8,960,011 votes agreed to President al-Assad's nomination to a new constitutional term at a rate of 99.987 percent of the total voters, while 219 voters disagreed, representing 2.4 per 100,000 the voters.
