US to transfer $96 million to Egypt
Egypt-USA, Economics, 2/12/1999

Both of Egypt and the United States endorsed an agreement to transfer $96 million from the last group of monetary transfers of US aid.

Egyptian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zafer El-Beshri said that the accumulated amounts of Egypt's dues from US Aid for implementing the projects that were specified for these funds have fallen to $700 million, from assets of more than $2 billion.

The US ambassador to Cairo, Daniel Kurtzer, stated that the continuation of US aid to Egypt aims at supporting economic reform, upgrading education and health, and supporting important investment projects in the domains of basic infrastructure and helping the Egyptian government in its important programs for economic liberation, including Egypt's requirements in the coming stage.
