55% reduction in petroleum revenues in Yemen

The Yemeni government's revenues from exporting crude oil in 1998 reached nearly $454 million, a retreat of 52.2% the revenues reported in 1997.
Recent data issued by the Yemeni central bank said that the government's share of petroleum exports reached 39.12 million barrels in the last year of nearly 54.88 million barrels in 1997.
The data showed that the local consumption of petroleum increased last year to 29.91 barrels from 27.17 million in 1997.
Yemeni petroleum revenues which reached their highest average in 1997 with a growth of $1.12 billion were affected by the international petroleum crisis.
